A word from the curator
This is an outline of the art of the book starting from the early 60’s to what book artists are doing today. We want to show many types of Artists Books and how they fit into this history from loose-leaf books of card through puzzle books and concertinas. From unique hand-made books to sleek published multiples. We will also cover out-of-the-book vernacular pieces who are only books because the artists say they are. Many of these pieces will be modified books where artists take a book of their choosing and manipulate it into a work of art. These may not even look like a book. – Jon Coffelt, May 2016
